Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva: Supporting the Sacred Pilgrimage

During the annual Mandala-Makaravilakku season, the Ammucare Charitable Trust organizes dedicated on-ground relief operations to support the millions of Ayyappa Swamis undertaking the sacred and physically demanding pilgrimage to the hilltop Sri Dharmasastha Temple in Sabarimala, Kerala. Navigating steep terrains, dense forests, and long hours of walking barefoot, these devotees endure intense physical hardships fueled entirely by their unwavering devotion. Operating along the major transit and trekking routes, our volunteers work round-the-clock to establish vital transit havens of care and comfort, ensuring that every pilgrim can complete their spiritual journey safely and comfortably.

Our dedicated teams deliver unconditional care directly at ground zero through essential support pillars:

  • Pada Seva (Foot Massages): Offering therapeutic, soothing foot and leg massages to relieve muscle exhaustion, cramps, and severe fatigue from miles of walking barefoot through rocky forest paths.
  • Medical Help & First Aid: Running fully equipped health stations staffed by volunteers to provide immediate first-aid, wound care for blisters, basic healthcare, and essential medicines.
  • Jal & Food Seva (Water and Food): Distributing clean, safe drinking water to combat dehydration alongside fresh, hot, and energy-rich meals to sustain the physical strength of the traveling devotees.
