Palakkad, India

The aided and government-run schools in Kerala reopened after the summer vacation on the 1st of June, 2009. All these schools held pravesanotsavam (entrance festival) to commemorate the occasion.

The students and the staff of the Aided Lower Primary School , Attassery, situated near the Ammucare Village , had an added reason to be jubilant about. Ammucare Charitable Trust (ACT) provided the students with school uniforms and note books. It was for the first time in the history of the school that the students were receiving such assistance from an external agency. A good number of parents also attended the function.

The meeting was presided over by Mr. Raveendran, member of Panchayath and inaugurated by Dr. P.K.Namboodiri, President, ACT. Mr. T.R.Asok, General Secretary of ACT, was present. In his welcome speech, Mr. C.Nandakumar, the Head Master, enumerated the needs of the school, the students of which were mainly from the lower strata of the society. Thanking the Trust for its kind gesture, he solicited continued support from it to improve the facilities of the school. Dr. Namboodiri spoke on the projects of the Trust. He requested the parents and teachers to participate in its activities and to promote the development of Ammucare Village and assured them of the Trust’s co-operation.

Uniform cloths and note books were distributed to the students. Mr. V.P.Kuttan, President, Parent-Teacher Association, proposed a vote of thanks.
Ammucare thanks Mr. T.Balachandran and Mr. N.A.Chidamabaram who bore the cost of uniforms and note books respectively. Both of them are ardent members of ACT administration.
